About us

2 Experienced Travellers who enjoy the luxuries while thriving in the back packer life style.

Hi! We’re Amy and Matt, two keen travelers from the UK. Salty Lips was born out of an idea that we wanted to share our travel experiences with people just like us.  We aren’t your average travel bloggers! We are not in our 20’s with amazing photo filters and great hair, but we do have a thirst for travel and experiences that have taken us on many adventures, as well as living across the globe.

Where we are really different, we are in our 40’s (well Matt is now in his 50’s) and we both have good corporate jobs, which means that while we enjoy the small luxuries, we enjoy the simplicities of travelling, as if we are back packing.  Which has given us a unique perspective on travel that we want to share with the world.

Too often travel blogs, are writen by 20-year-old back packers, with $20 a day to spend, or the other extreme by some retired millionaire who is spending $20,000 on a yacht, we enjoy both experiences but are very much in the middle of this spectrum, as the majority of you reading this are.

So join us on our journey as we enjoy our lives and get to travel the world, sometimes just the two of us, sometimes with our 3 year old son and often with entire family with Matts two older daughters.

Hope you enjoy our adventure!

Who’s Matt?

Matt is the one who can not say no to a challenge.  Jumping out of plane, climbing mountains and generally anything that gets the heart pumping that is Matt.  At the same time as being the sensible (worrying) one in the relationship.   Matt has a love of travel, which started by travelling around the US as a teenager, then living in the Middle East for 10 years allowed him to experience Asia, and he fell in love with the culture, the food and everything Asia has to offer.

Who’s Amy?

Amy is the life and soul of every party.  Amy is always looking for the next adventure, having been a travel agent and working in the travel industry her entire life she has a way of finding the unique places that just don’t appear on everyone’s searches.  Amy would spend her entire life travelling and finding new experiences. Having spent a long time living abroad, allowed Amy to explore places that are difficult to get to from the UK.
